A Tribute to Tim Nash
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved coach, Tim Nash.
Tim was the current coach of the NC Fusion 02/03 and 04 girls Premier teams as well as the Page High School girls team. For our staff and Premier players at NC Fusion, Tim was a beacon of support as he had an unbelievable ability to connect with every person he interacted with. Tim cared deeply about the emotional well-being of his players and knew exactly what to say to a player to spark their enthusiasm and confidence in their abilities. His sense of community and humility were unparalleled and he personified what it means to be a great coach. We know each of you share our appreciation for Tim’s thoughtfulness with a mix of well-timed humor.
While many of us know Tim as coach, we are most fortunate for Tim’s legacy as a pillar of youth sports in the state of North Carolina and one of the early pioneers of girls soccer. Tim worked closely with Anson Dorrance to pave the way for the development, marketing, and growth of women’s soccer in North Carolina. He is personally responsible for the growth of girls soccer as it is today. His book, “Training Soccer Champions” is still one of the top purchased soccer books and his countless articles for the News & Record helped bring sports in the Triad to life.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Tim’s family and all those who knew and loved him. We will provide an update regarding a tribute to Tim in the near future.
