COVID-19 Update 3/30/20
Good afternoon Fusion families,
Today is Monday, March 30th and I’m here with an update from the club regarding our plans due to COVID 19.
First, I want to wish everyone health and safety during this time. I know that we have had already had families impacted by COVID 19 in terms of health, and we certainly have had families and their businesses impacted by the virus. If you haven’t seen our update on our website at ncfusion.org, we have listed businesses from our club members that are in need of our support. We will add that link again at the end of this video announcement and feel free to add your business if you haven’t already. – visit HERE
Second, our current extension due to COVID 19 was through tomorrow, March 31st. Clearly, due to new guidelines, we will extend our suspension through April 15th. While many may question why we don’t do a longer extension, we’ve decided to make our decisions 2 weeks at a time, as information continues to change rapidly. We’ll make another announcement on Monday, April 13th with an update on timelines.
Third, we know that the suspensions and delays have and will cause questions about refunds or credits. We definitely understand those concerns, especially given the financial climate right now, and want to share with you our intentions.
*We are hopeful that we can deliver on our commitments to each of our programs. That clearly will be at a different time, and may look a bit different, but we’re creating alternative plans. Once we know when we can get back on the field, we will announce those changes. If we are not able to deliver on our commitments, we certainly will be assessing how to apply credits or issue refunds, but that will not likely take place until late summer, after we know how things play out.
*Recurring monthly payments for our competitive soccer families should have ended on March 1st (at the latest) for the current soccer year. So, those families should not see any more charges, unless you were on a different payment plan arranged with the club. For our lacrosse and field hockey families with current recurring payments for Spring and Summer Programs, you should have received an email from Kristen Strain with the opportunity to postpone your auto draft payments. If you have any questions about that, please email Kristen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fourth, we really appreciate everyone’s understanding and support at this time. Just like other non-profits, we are going through a very tough period. We rely on player fees, sponsorships, and tournament or event revenue to operate our programs and facilities, many of which have come to a screeching halt. While the revenue has stalled, our expenses still exist, specifically our obligation and desire to continue to care for our fantastic staff. We are working with our financial advisors to take advantage of new strategies that have been introduced to small businesses and non profits to assist us in this difficult time, which we have been very grateful for.
Finally, we want to continue to bring value and display our core values to our membership:
In relation to our Core Value of COMMUNITY, we want to continue to communicate and connect with our families as best as possible during this time. Whether that is through email, phone calls, or social media, it’s important that we stay connected.
In relation to our Core Value of DEVELOPMENT, we want to continue to provide our players and families with valuable content for training at home to improve. We’re excited that due to our partnership with Kevin Mincher at Unstoppable Teen, we will be launching a 6 week online series for our players to continue to help them develop Life Skills. The content is first class and Kevin delivers the message in an incredibly impactful way. Stay tuned for details on that.
In relation to our Core Value of TRUST, I think we all are wrestling with this right now. Can we trust that we’ll be back on the field? Can we trust that we’ll stay safe? Can we trust that things will be better on the other side?
Which probably falls right in line with our Core Value of HUMILITY. I’m sorry that I’m not able to provide much clarity on the situation, but I hope that everyone gives grace during a time when it seems that nobody has much clarity. We hope we can get back to the field in the near future, but will do so when it is deemed safe. Thank you all for your support during this time.
As our good friend Lou Friedman says, “Be well”.
