Homegrown NC Fusion Player to MLS Charlotte.
Charlotte Football Club today announced the team has acquired experienced MLS midfielder Brandt Bronico from the Chicago Fire. Brandt is a native of Highpoint. He played with NC Fusion as a youth and played for NC Fusion U23 during his collegiate years He played collegiately for the Charlotte 49ers from 2013-16, scoring 25 goals and adding 23 assists. As a senior in 2016, Bronico was named the Conference USA Player of the Year and second-team All-America after scoring nine goals, including four game-winners.
“Great to see Brandt back in NC and amazing to have an ex-Fusion player representing Charlotte MLS! It gives all our younger players hope that one day it might be them” was the reaction from Adam Reekie (Head of NC Fusion Level 1 Soccer) when he heard the news.
“Charlotte FC! Can’t express how excited I am to be joining you guys. Charlotte is a city that means so much to me. Where I played college soccer, where I met my future wife and North Carolina being a home state for me – I mean it just means the world for me,” Bronico said in a video message on Twitter.
Bronico, 25, has made 66 MLS appearances over four seasons in the league, all with Chicago. He made 10 appearances (three starts) in 2020.
