Together we are better! – Saturday Soccer
The NC Fusion Foundation partnered with Salem Chapel and Hope of Winston Salem to bring Saturday Soccer to students at Kimberley Park Elementary. Saturday Soccer has been present in Greensboro for more than eight years and is a great entry point into NC Fusion for families. The creation of the Kimberley Park program exemplifies the commitment of NC Fusion to serve children across the Triad.
Saturday Soccer consists of a soccer training session for students that integrates social, emotional, and physical development. At the end of each session, students gather for a shared meal provided by Hope, a local Winston Salem non-profit organization that prepares and provides nutritious weekend meals to thousands of children in Forsyth County. NC Fusion has seen over 50 students learning new skills and building friendships through soccer in just the past five weeks. In addition, students have been able to interact with volunteers from all over Winston Salem, including players from the Wake Forest University Women’s Soccer Team, Wake Forest University Football Team, and Carolina University Women’s Soccer Team. These college volunteers help young children to envision a future of opportunities.
To say Saturday Soccer has been a group effort would be an understatement. Without the partnerships with other wonderful organizations in Forsyth County, this program would not be possible. Thank you to Salem Chapel, Hope, Wake Forest Athletics, and Carolina University for your investment in our community. Together we are better!
