RECREATION - 7U - 19U
Program Information

The NC Fusion Recreation program is open to 6-19 year old players. The program is designed to offer the best learning environment for your kids to enjoy the game of soccer, emphasizing participation over competition. Our program will have smaller teams to ensure that kids get more one-on-one time with their coach and more touches on the ball. In the NC Fusion Recreation program, there will be no pressure to score goals or to win games but rather an emphasis on having fun while at the same time instilling a love and respect for the game.
Our goal is to provide your child with the opportunity to reach his or her potential (and to develop a healthy, active lifestyle) while at the same time teaching them teamwork, responsibility and commitment.
If interested in a higher level of competition, details can be found
here.

We offer the recreation program in the fall and spring seasons in the Greensboro, Kernersville/High Point, Jamestown and Winston Salem areas. You will select the recreation program closest to your home.
The system will then provide you with a list of teams in your player's age group. You may select a team based upon the training date and location that works best for you. Ex. 10U G Bears Tues Truist - the 10U Girls Bears team trains on Tuesdays at the Truist Sports Park. If you'd like your child to participate on the same team as another friend, just be sure to select the same team! See the map below to determine the location nearest your home.
All returning players from the 2025 fall season will have priority to re-join the same team for the 2026 spring season. New players may be placed on a different team if all returning players have registered by June 16th. New players will be contacted if they need to be moved to a new team.
What if my child wants to play with their friend/sibling in an older age group? Please register your player for a team in their correct age group and contact Recreation Director Andrew Fleming (afleming@ncfusion.org) to request a change. Our governing state association, NCYSA, does not allow players to play in a younger age group.
Note: To allow all players the appropriate playing time, once a team is full, additional players can no longer be added.
December 5th is the deadline for returning players to be guaranteed a spot on their team. Open enrollment for new players begins on December 6th.
FAQs
Can my child play in a different age group?
A player may ‘play up’ one age group, but may not ‘play down’ an age group. If a player would like to play in an age group one year older than his/her birth year, they should register for a team in their own age group and then email Andrew Fleming (afleming@ncfusion.org) to be transferred up an age group.
Are age groups changing for the 2026 fall season? Can I stay on my current team?
US Soccer has decided to use the Aug 1 - July 31 twelve month period to determine age groups beginning in the Fall of 2026. We will follow suit in the Fall of 2026. Teams that are currently formed based on the Jan 1 - Dec 31 twelve month period may stay together, which means that some of the players will be ‘playing up’ an age group.

What should I do if my team is full when I'm trying to register, or if I don't see my team in the registration process?
If you do not see your team in the registration process, it is most likely because the team is full, or the team is in a different age group than your player. If you would like to play up one age group, you may do so by registering in your own age group and emailing Andrew Fleming. (afleming@ncfusion.org) If the team is full, the coach must email Andrew Fleming and give specific permission to add your player and exceed the roster cap.
Do I need to purchase a new uniform this season?
A player may wear last season’s uniform. A player does not need to buy a new uniform each season or if they change teams. If a player does not have the uniform, or it has not been delivered to them, they may still play and should bring a white t-shirt and a light blue t-shirt. White is for the home team and light blue is for the away team.
How can I check the team for which I am registered?
To check the team for which you have registered, log in to your playmetrics account and select your child’s name. Then select ‘registrations’ and you should see the team. You will not see practice schedules, rosters, or coaches in your playmetrics account until approximately one week before the season begins.
When will my uniform arrive? What can I do if I received or ordered the wrong size?
Soccer.com is an online retail store, NC Fusion has limited ability to assist with customer service issues. For recreation uniform customer service, please contact custserv@sportsendeavors.com or call 1-800-950-1994. We apologize that we do not have access to inventory or knowledge of orders as Soccer.com is a separate entity.
What is the ARL?
The A.R.L. (Additional Recreation League) is for players that are registered in the recreation league who would like to play more soccer. This is available for boys born from 2012-2015, and girls born 2013-2015. If you wish to play A.R.L. you'll practice once per week with that team and play games on Sunday afternoons and play in the A.R.L. Cup tournament, in additional to your recreation team schedule. The A.R.L. is a separate registration and fee. ($190 for the season) Your recreation team and your A.R.L. team are two different teams, though you may certainly request to play with friends or teammates, and some recreation teams end up with all members registered for A.R.L. playing together. A.R.L. teams typically practice on Fridays, so as not to conflict with recreation team practices, but coaches can request other days. A.R.L. teams are coached by parent volunteer coaches, as it is a recreational league. The recreation uniform is worn in the A.R.L. so there is nothing new to buy from a uniform standpoint. Registration is done through your playmetrics account under Club Programs. All information can be found here: NC Fusion
When will I see my game schedule?
Game schedules are published to the playmetrics account. This usually occurs during the first week of practices. A team should be scheduled for 7-8 games. Games are typically on Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm, but can be on Friday nights or during practice if necessary. Games may be scheduled on Sunday afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm if necessary due to rain outs, or field availability issues.
Will I ever have two games in one day?
Why would that occur? If there is an odd number of teams in an age group, there will be a team with a double-header each weekend so that everybody gets to play. When a team has a double-header in a weekend, the scheduler attempts to schedule them on Saturday with one time slot of rest in between the two games. This is done so that parents do not need to go to the fields on both Friday and Saturday, and so that they don’t go all day on Saturday i.e. 9 am game and 3 pm game.
